The New Oriental Brand

Established in 1993, New Oriental (NYSE:EDU)is now considered China’s largest private education organisation and one of the most recognised brands in the industry within China; Based on founder Michael Yu's ground-breaking vision, our innovative and inspirational instruction combines humorous, interactive teaching techniques with traditional Chinese educational values.

The New Oriental brand has, over the years, grown into a group of educational services being offered nationwide. With the aim of providing access to millions of Chinese students the opportunity to study the subjects and skills they desire, New Oriental now operates a wide range of educational programs, services and products; These include English and other foreign language training, overseas and domestic test preparation, multi-subject after school tutoring, primary and secondary school education, educational content and software as well as online education.

Since its inception, New Oriental has welcomed and educated over 31.6 million students, with more than 4.9 million in 2017 alone. As of August 31, 2017, we have a network of 78 schools, 899* learning centers, 20 bookstores and access to a nationwide network of online and offline bookstores through 170 third-party distributors, over 23,200 teachers in 66 cities, as well as an online network with approximately 18 million registered users.

New Oriental Global Study Tour has given itself a mission, in-line with the theories and principles of the New Oriental brand; That being, to provide Chinese students the tools and opportunities to further themselves in life, to broaden their horizons, travel the globe and learn all that the world has to offer, giving them a better life, fulfilling their hopes and dreams and those of their families.

Since our humble beginnings at our headquarters in Beijing, China, Global Study Tours has welcomed over 120,000 students on our programs, opened international offices in London, UK, and Los Angeles, USA, and partnered with some of the world’s leading educators. We are certified with English UK, in strategic partnership with Rustic Pathways, we partner with Harvard University’s leadership summer training camp and with Cornell University’s international debate competition. The list goes on year by year as we continually strive to provide our students with the best education the world has to offer.

As we continue to grow, we’re always on the look out for innovative ways to inspire students, to offer more programs, and to give access to the world as an education system. Part of this growth is to start offering these study tour experiences in our home country, China, to students on an international scale, such that students from around the globe get an equal opportunity to experience one of the world’s largest educational systems, long history and unique culture.

Mr. Michael M Yu Founder, Chairman

Mr. Michael Minhong Yu is the founder of our company and has served as the executive chairman of our board of directors since 2001. He was also our chief executive officer from 2001 to September 2016. In addition to his roles in our company, Mr. Yu also serves as vice chairman of the Beijing Young Entrepreneurs Association and vice chairman of the Committee of Education of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League.

Prior to founding our first school in 1993, Mr. Yu was an English instructor at Peking University from 1985 to 1991. Mr. Yu received his bachelor’s degree in English from Peking University.

Ms. Ting LiuCEO

Ting Liu is Assistant Vice President of the New Oriental Education & Technology Group, Director of the Global Study Tour and Camp Edu. Promotion & Management Center, CEO of Beijing New Oriental Walkite International Education Travel Co., Ltd, Executive Director of China Camp Education Alliance,and CEO of Walkite International Academy(USA&UK).

As a pioneer in the Chinese global study tour industry, Ms. Liu intelligently introduced high quality global education resources to China and has provide more opportunities for teenagers to go abroad and see the world. Ms. Liu obtained her MBA degree from Nankai Business school.

Strategic cooperation and partnership’s were created with United Kingdom’s Harrow school, the United States Tabor Academy and other top European and American private secondary schools; thus releasing the first private school, summer school travel routes.
"2017 International Study Tour Blue Book" officially is released.
The nation's first overseas preparatory course was created for overseas studies to help children experience the education styles without having been there yet. New Oriental International Study Tour’s 12th Anniversary & Education Forum was successfully held to open a new era of study + travel.


New Oriental Global Camp & International Study Tour Education Summit was successfully held and officially launched the New Oriental International Study
Tour Public Welfare Dream Fund.Travel Industry milestone "2016 International Study Tour White Paper" official release.The first overseas study materials, to achieve seamless integration with Anglo-American camp courses, giving children an unprecedented experience of study travel.


NAFSA organizes the first international education industry summit Education Forum.
"A Study Tour · Benefiting Your Life" New Oriental International Study Tour celebrates its 10th anniversary, and releases a paper on “International Study Tours to Change the Destiny of Youth”.
Won the "Netease Golden Wing Award" for the most distinctive international education brand; Tencent education “international education brand characteristics” and “Leading the capital of Beijing and international education institutions” as an honorary title.
Virtual classroom - Mobile APP was released online.


Tencent honored us with the title "the most distinctive international education brand in ten years".


"Beijing Evening News" titled us as "influencing education within the past sixty years" as an outstanding international education brand.


China tourism industry's first brand magazine "Tour IN" started publication, to create travel culture & travel knowledge, increasing understanding and awareness of study tours and their benefits.


In order to meet the needs of different students, eight study tour categories were created, with more than 100 study tours available online at the same time.


We were the first to design and launch a United States immersive classroom experience product line.


Our tour service network expanded to more than 51 new Oriental schools nationwide, improving the convenience of tour registration services and increasing enrolments.


We released our first exchange programs for famous overseas schools, leading Chinese students to the world'stop schools allowing them to realize their dreams.


Our Travel footprint expanded from the United States to Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other developed countries and regions.
